Before You Hire Any Mover, Google Their Address
Drop their address into Google Street View. If it is a WeWork suite on the 12th floor, they are not carrying your sectional down from it. If it is a UPS Store in a strip mall, the only thing they are moving is your deposit into someone else's pocket.
Real movers operate from real facilities. Trucks in the yard. Loading docks. Equipment you can see from the street. Not a virtual office with a receptionist and a conference room.
Five red flags to check before you sign anything:
Trucks and a warehouse, or a glass lobby with a directory board?
Check their Out-of-Service rate and inspection history at FMCSA.gov.
If they subcontract your move, they are a broker, not a mover.
A real carrier puts their USDOT, MC number, and liability terms on the estimate. A broker buries it.
When a broker hands your move to a third-party carrier, they hand off the liability too. Something breaks? The broker points at the carrier, the carrier points at the broker, and you are stuck in the middle. An asset-based carrier owns the trucks, employs the crew, and carries the liability from pickup to delivery. One company, one point of accountability.

Frequently Asked Questions
We are an asset-based carrier. We own 20+ trucks, operate two company warehouses, and employ our own full-time crews. When you book with Ontrack, our trucks and our people show up. No subcontracting, no third-party surprises. Verify us at FMCSA.gov using USDOT #2551548.
All cancellation and reschedule requests must be made by speaking directly with our office during business hours. A voicemail left at 2 AM or an email sent overnight does not count as notice. We need live confirmation so we can reassign the crew and release the truck before it is too late. For residential local moves: cancel or reschedule with 72 hours notice and your deposit is fully refunded. Inside 72 hours, we will reschedule your move one time at no charge because closing dates slip and leases get extended. Under 24 hours or a no-show, you are responsible for the minimum labor charge. Because we are unable to fill a specialized crew\'s schedule on such short notice, our movers lose a full day of work. At that point a crew has already been assigned, a truck has been pulled from another job, and we have turned down other work for that date. Long-distance and commercial jobs involve route planning, fuel commitments, and crew scheduling across state lines, so cancellation terms are outlined in your signed proposal. We do not lock anyone into non-refundable deposits. That is broker behavior.
Yes. Realtors across California and Arizona refer their clients to Ontrack Moving because we are an asset-based carrier with a 0% Federal Out-of-Service rate. Your client gets a professional crew with company-owned trucks, $10,000,000 building and property liability, and the same people from walkthrough to final box. Not a random subcontractor from a broker dispatch board. Their home is handled by a company that owns every truck in the driveway and employs every person walking through the front door. We coordinate directly with closing timelines, provide COIs on request, and treat your client's move like a reflection of your reputation, because it is. Call our office to set up a direct line with your dedicated coordinator.
Yes. We set up corporate accounts for companies, property management firms, and organizations that need recurring moving services. Account benefits include a dedicated coordinator, priority scheduling, COIs kept on file for your buildings, and consistent crews who learn your facilities. We handle everything from single-employee relocations to full office moves. Contact us to discuss your volume and we will build a program around it.
Absolutely. We work with property managers and HOAs across California and Arizona. We keep your COI requirements on file, follow your building protocols (elevator and loading dock coordination, floor protection, corner guards, wall shields, and carpet shields per our 15-Point Protocol), and provide the same trained crews for every move in your property. Your residents get an asset-based carrier with $10,000,000 building and property liability and a verified 0% Out-of-Service safety record. Standard $0.60/lb per article cargo liability applies to belongings. Contact our office to set up your property as a preferred partner.
