Furniture Movers for
One Piece or the Whole House
A 300 lb armoire does not care how strong you are. It cares about angles, grip points, and what happens at the third stair. Our crews move furniture for a living: single Craigslist pickups, full households, office buildouts, and the dresser that has defeated every friend with a pickup truck. Blanket-wrapped, shrink-wrapped, and strapped to the truck wall every time.

The craft most people never see
Why Furniture Gets Damaged, and What We Do Differently
Furniture rarely breaks in the truck. It breaks in transitions: the doorway that is two inches too narrow, the stair turn that forces a tilt, the tailgate lift with no straps. So that is where the process concentrates. Before a piece moves an inch, the crew walks the route, measures the pinch points, and decides what comes apart.
Measure and Disassemble
Legs off the sofa, mirror off the dresser, bed frames broken down. Hardware goes in labeled bags taped to the piece it belongs to, so reassembly is minutes instead of an archaeology project.
Wrap in Layers
Quilted blankets first, shrink wrap over the top to hold them through doorways and transit. Customers regularly mention the wrap jobs in reviews, including the underside of pieces, because corners and feet take the first hit.
Protect the Route, Strap the Load
Floor runners and Masonite down, door frames padded, stair rails wrapped. In the truck, furniture rides strapped to the wall following the 15-Point Protection Protocol, never loose against other pieces.
Five jobs, one crew standard
What Our Furniture Movers Handle
Single-Item and Small Moves
The marketplace sofa, the inherited china hutch, the treadmill going to your sister's place in the next town. Small jobs get the same equipment and the same wrap standard as a full household, billed hourly with a minimum.
- Curbside pickups and store pickups
- Stairs, elevators, and tight Victorian landings
- Same-week scheduling in most cases
Whole-Home Furniture Moves
Already have the boxes handled and just need the big pieces moved? Furniture-only moves are a common money-saver: you move the car loads, we move what does not fit in a car. Part of our residential moving service.
- Disassembly and reassembly included
- Placement in the rooms you choose
- Scales up to full service with packing
In-Home Rearrangement
Moving a bedroom set downstairs, clearing rooms for new flooring or paint, or restaging after a remodel. The crew brings runners and padding even when the furniture never leaves the building, because the staircase does not get easier just because the truck stays parked.
- Room-to-room and floor-to-floor moves
- Remodel prep with vault storage between phases
- Moving and placement only; mounting and installation are separate services arranged in writing
Office Furniture Removal
Desks, cubicles, conference tables, and filing cabinets cleared from offices on a deadline, with COIs for building management and after-hours scheduling. Pairs with our commercial moving service and the Phase-Shift Protocol for businesses that cannot pause operations.
- Cubicle teardown and liquidation hauling
- $10M building liability COI for property managers
- Donation and recycling routing where possible

What customers say about the furniture work specifically.
Shrink wrapped, blanketed, secured
James met with us prior to the move and gave us an estimate as to the moving cost. His estimate was spot on. As for the move itself, this crew did an excellent job. Every piece of furniture was shrink wrapped or covered with moving blankets and secured to the item being moved. We have moved several times over the years, but this was the most professional and hard working crew we have ever used.

A couch around a Victorian staircase
They took every precaution and on top of that they were the most skilled, hardworking, and efficient movers I have ever used. They were friendly, and wrapped everything so well including my precious vintage furniture. (See photo of impressive couch wrapping that they then finagled the corner of my Victorian crazy staircase with ease). They even wrapped the underside of the furniture.

Stored during a remodel, brought back after
Having all of our furniture taken away, stored, and brought back after a remodel made an otherwise stressful project so much easier... Alejandro and Victor moved heavy furniture up our new (narrow) stairs without leaving a single mark, and were great to work with throughout the process. Doing it myself would have taken a whole week and almost certainly would have left plenty of dents in the wall.

Furniture Moving FAQs
Yes. Ontrack Moving® takes single-item furniture jobs: the sofa you bought across town, a piano upstairs, an armoire that will not fit in your SUV, or a dresser headed to a kid's first apartment. Single-item moves bill at our standard hourly rate with a minimum, and the crew arrives with the same blankets, shrink wrap, and dollies as a full move.
Furniture moving with Ontrack Moving® runs $165 to $195 per hour for a 2-person crew and truck, with hourly minimums on small jobs. Furniture haul-away runs $75 to $150 per item. Final charges are based on actual labor time, materials used, access conditions, scope changes, waiting time, and any additional services requested or required to complete the move.
Ontrack crews follow a layered process: furniture is disassembled where appropriate, wrapped in quilted moving blankets, then shrink-wrapped so the blankets stay in place through doorways and truck transit. Floors get runners, door frames get padding, and stair rails get wrapped on tight Victorian and townhouse staircases. Items ride strapped to the truck wall, not loose. Belongings are covered by standard $0.60/lb cargo liability per article, with additional valuation options available.
Yes. In-home furniture rearrangement is a standard service: moving a bedroom set downstairs, rotating furniture between rooms before guests or a remodel, or shifting heavy pieces so flooring or painting crews can work. Crews bring the same protection equipment as a full move. Note that hanging, mounting, and installation are not included; in-home work covers moving and placing furniture.
Yes. Furniture haul-away runs $75 to $150 per item, and many customers combine it with a move: the new sofa goes in, the old one leaves on the same truck. Usable pieces are donated where possible and the rest is recycled or disposed of properly. Full details on our junk removal page.
Every Ontrack truck carries quilted moving blankets (100+ per truck), shrink wrap, 4-wheel furniture dollies, appliance dollies with straps, shoulder and forearm lifting straps, Masonite floor boards, neoprene runners, door-frame padding, and a full disassembly toolkit. The right equipment is the difference between two people sliding a 300 lb armoire safely and four people straining at it.
Yes. Furniture goes blanket-wrapped into wooden storage vaults at our Hayward, CA and Peoria, AZ warehouses for $80 to $120 per vault per month. This is common during remodels: we pick up the furniture, store it wrapped, and return it when the floors are done. Vault counts on an estimate are projections; the final count is based on actual volume loaded. See storage options.
