How much does it cost to move from Silicon Valley to Scottsdale?

As of July 2026, Ontrack Moving® moves households from Silicon Valley to Scottsdale at a flat rate priced by the number of trucks the move requires, based on inventory volume, distance (about 750 miles via I-5 and I-10), packing, and access conditions, with road transit typically 2 to 3 days. Final charges will be based on the actual inventory and services at pickup, access conditions, scope changes, waiting time, and any additional services requested or required to complete the move. Because Ontrack Moving® is a direct asset-based carrier (USDOT #2551548) and not a broker, each long-distance move is an exclusive, dedicated relocation with no load consolidation and no subcontractor handoffs. The flat-rate quote covers the inventory and services in your estimate and is set before your move, rather than billed by the hour as a local move would be.

Ontrack Moving® runs offices in Hayward, CA and Peoria, AZ and holds a DOT inspection record that exceeds the national average under FMCSA inspection. The $10,000,000 Combined Protection Tower protects building structures and the premises, while your belongings are covered by standard $0.60/lb cargo liability per article. Verify the federal safety record by entering USDOT 2551548 at the FMCSA SAFER database.

Credentials

Targeted wealth corridors

Three Corridors. Single-Carrier Accountability.

Each pairing represents a distinct logistics profile. We serve all three.

Palo Alto / Atherton
Silverleaf / DC Ranch

Origin profile: 10,000+ sq ft estates on 1-acre lots along Atherton's Stockbridge Avenue and Selby Lane. Mature oak canopy, single-lane private drives, no street parking. Staging near El Camino Real, which is State Route 82 through Atherton, is arranged with the town and the property before move day.

Destination profile: Guard-gated communities such as Silverleaf at DC Ranch typically ask for a crew and vehicle list in advance and admit only pre-approved vehicles. We confirm the current procedure with the gate before move day. Scottsdale Road to Thompson Peak Parkway corridor has no truck staging. We use Pima Road overflow staging.

$10M building liability covers both structures simultaneously.

Pacific Heights / Presidio
Paradise Valley / Arcadia

Origin profile: San Francisco high-value Victorians and Edwardians on Broadway and Vallejo. Freight elevator scheduling in Pacific Heights high-rises. SFMTA temporary no-parking permits, which take 5 business days to apply for and are posted 72 hours ahead. We shuttle with 16-foot trucks on the Presidio Heights cul-de-sacs.

Destination profile: Paradise Valley has no sidewalks, no streetlights, and 1-acre minimum lot sizes. Tatum Boulevard to Lincoln Drive corridor. Arcadia sits inside the City of Phoenix rather than the Town of Paradise Valley, so its long private driveways and access questions run through a different jurisdiction than the estates a mile north.

Shuttle trucks at origin, full-size fleet at destination.

Los Altos / Hillsborough
Desert Mountain / Troon

Origin profile: Los Altos Hills estates on Moody Road and Page Mill Road. Hillsborough mansions along Crystal Springs Road with circular driveways and 8%+ grade entries. Heavy live-edge dining tables and wine collections are standard inventory.

Destination profile: Desert Mountain is a private 8,000-acre community in far north Scottsdale. Troon North entries run off Dynamite Boulevard, where associations commonly ask that move vehicles be registered ahead of the date. Gravel roads to remote lots. Altitude variation from 2,400 to 3,100 feet creates access challenges for 26-foot rigs.

Wine collection transport with vibration isolation.

Climate-staged transit

The 48-Hour Thermal-Staging Protocol™

Bay Area humidity averages around 65%. Scottsdale runs far drier, and on a summer afternoon relative humidity there can fall below 10%. That swing is what destroys fine wood. Veneer lifts. Joints separate. Piano soundboards crack. Antique marquetry delaminates. It is not the heat that kills your furniture. It is the humidity cliff. This executive corridor is part of our California to Arizona interstate service, connecting two of the highest-value markets in the West.

Our Peoria terminal at 8662 N 78th Ave, central to our Arizona operations, serves as a climate-controlled buffer station. High-value wood furniture, pianos, antiques, and mixed-media art are held in our warehouse for up to 48 hours at a controlled intermediate humidity level. The wood fibers acclimate gradually instead of crashing from coastal moisture to bone-dry desert air in a single afternoon. A company without its own Arizona warehouse has nowhere to stage this transition.

Stage 1: Bay Area Pickup (65% RH)

Items packed in breathable cotton padding (not plastic, which traps moisture). Loaded into sealed truck at Hayward terminal. Transit begins via I-5 South over the Grapevine, then east on I-10 across the Sonoran Desert.

Stage 2: Peoria Terminal Buffer (35% RH)

High-value items offloaded into our climate-controlled warehouse. Intermediate humidity allows gradual moisture release from wood cells over 24-48 hours. The intent is to reduce the abrupt moisture loss that causes micro-fractures and visible cracking.

Stage 3: Scottsdale Delivery (summer afternoon RH below 10%)

Pre-acclimated items delivered to your Scottsdale or Paradise Valley estate. Dawn delivery (5:00 AM dispatch) keeps the unload out of the afternoon heat. Placement with Zero-Trace floor protection.

Specialized protocols

High-Valuation Item Protection

Developed over 15 years of moving high-end estates, and applied to this corridor from both terminals.

Custom Crating for Modern Art

Each inventoried piece is measured, photographed for pre-transit documentation, and packed in acid-free tissue with corner protection. Oversized canvases and sculpture get individual wooden crates built to dimension at our Hayward shop. Mixed-media and resin pieces receive thermal insulation layers to limit adhesive softening on the desert leg.

Zero-Trace Floor Protocol

Turkish marble and Travertine floors are standard in Scottsdale high-end homes. Our Zero-Trace protocol uses neoprene runners rated for natural stone, felt-padded dollies that distribute weight across a wider footprint, and corner guards on the doorframes along the carry path. We inspect grout lines and stone thresholds before rolling a single piece of equipment across them. This is how we work to limit scuffs, chips and polish damage to the floor.

Gate-to-Gate Coordination

We pull the street permits each origin city requires, SFMTA temporary no-parking signage in San Francisco (5 business days to apply, posted 72 hours ahead) and the equivalent from the local public works department on the Peninsula, and book Peninsula HOA elevator reservations on the California end while sending crew and vehicle details ahead to the Arizona guard-gate communities. Both timelines run concurrently because we have operations staff in both markets. That is only possible with operations staff in both markets.

The Ontrack Advantage: Single-Carrier Accountability

Unlike brokers who sell executive loads to random owner-operators, Ontrack is a dual-market carrier. Your Scottsdale delivery is handled by Ontrack employees, not a third-party subcontractor assigned at delivery. The same carrier wraps your grand piano in breathable cotton at your Palo Alto residence and rolls it across your Travertine foyer in Paradise Valley.

Single-carrier accountability. $10M building liability. No broker handoffs. No transfer to an unknown carrier along the way. No random subcontractor showing up at your guard gate. No "we lost the manifest" phone calls. Your move coordinator works directly with both terminals and can tell you where your load is. For phased office transitions, see our office relocation playbook.

Carrier vs. Broker: Why It Matters for Executive Moves

Direct carrier service for your art collection and estate furnishings, not warehouse handoffs

Factor Ontrack (Carrier) Moving Brokers
Carrier Continuity One carrier packs in California and delivers in Arizona Handling parties not known at booking
Climate Staging 48-hour acclimation at owned Peoria terminal No Arizona warehouse, so no staging before desert delivery.
Art and Antiques Custom crating built at our Hayward shop Wrap standard depends on whichever crew is assigned
Floor Protection Zero-Trace protocol for marble and Travertine Floor protection varies by crew
Guard-Gate Access Crew and vehicle details sent ahead of the truck Crew arrives without credentials. Denied at gate.
Liability Coverage $10M building liability, direct claim resolution Responsibility split between broker and subcontractor
Delivery Timeline Typically 4-6 days, longer when the 48-hour climate staging is used Varies with consolidation and warehouse transfers

Ontrack is a licensed interstate carrier (USDOT #2551548, MC #889001). Your shipment stays in Ontrack Moving® custody from pickup to delivery, on our own trucks and, when the climate-staging stage is used, in our own warehouse rather than a third party's.

Common questions

Executive Relocation FAQ

Ontrack Moving® uses a climate-staged transit protocol through its Peoria terminal. Fine wood furniture acclimates in our climate-controlled warehouse for up to 48 hours, buffering the step down from Bay Area humidity averaging around 65% to desert air that can fall below 10% on a summer afternoon. This is intended to soften the moisture change that causes cracking, veneer separation and joint failure when wood moves directly into arid conditions.

Yes. Ontrack Moving® runs Gate-to-Gate Coordination on both ends, handling the street parking permits each origin city requires, SFMTA in San Francisco and the local public works department on the Peninsula, plus Peninsula HOA scheduling at the California end while sending ahead the crew and vehicle details Scottsdale guard-gate communities ask for. We manage both timelines concurrently because we have staff in both markets.

Ontrack Moving® uses a Zero-Trace floor protocol: neoprene runners rated for natural stone, felt-padded dollies that distribute weight across a wider surface area, and corner guards on the doorframes along the carry path. Our crews inspect Travertine grout lines and marble thresholds before rolling any equipment across them.

Ontrack Moving® is a carrier with its own terminals at both ends of this corridor, in Hayward, CA and Peoria, AZ. We hold USDOT #2551548 and carry a $10,000,000 Combined Protection Tower for building liability, with standard $0.60/lb cargo liability per article on your goods, and maintain a 4.9/5 rating from 2,847+ reviews. Ontrack employees handle both ends of the move, with single-carrier accountability and no broker handoffs.

Yes. Ontrack Moving® builds custom wooden crates for modern art, sculpture and oversized canvases. Each inventoried piece is measured, photographed for documentation, and packed in acid-free materials. Our climate-staged transit through the Peoria terminal is designed to slow the temperature and humidity change that stresses adhesives, varnishes and mixed-media components.

An Ontrack Moving® executive relocation on this corridor typically takes 4 to 6 days from pack day to placement. This includes 1-2 days for white-glove packing and custom crating, typically 2 to 3 days of road transit (about 750 miles via I-5 and I-10), and an optional 48-hour climate acclimation stage at our Peoria terminal for humidity-sensitive items before delivery, which extends the window. Delivery windows are targets, not guarantees: weather, mechanical issues, traffic and federal DOT driver-hours rules can shift a long route. Junk removal is also available.

I had an outstanding experience with Jahir and Geraldo! After another moving company no-showed the day of my move, these two came on a moment's notice to help out!
