Climate protection

Peoria Terminal Thermal Buffer

Silicon Valley averages 60-70 degrees year-round. Austin summers reach 95-100 degrees with 50-70% humidity. That 30-40 degree swing, combined with a massive humidity shift, causes real damage if items are rushed from one climate to the other.

Every Silicon Valley to Austin shipment makes a mandatory stop at Ontrack's Peoria terminal at 8662 N 78th Ave, Peoria, AZ 85345. This is not a warehouse transfer. Your items stay on the same truck with the same Ontrack carrier. The stop allows wood furniture, hardwood floors of pianos, oil paintings, and veneer finishes to gradually acclimate to intermediate desert conditions before continuing into the Texas humidity belt.

What the Thermal Buffer Prevents

  • Wood warping and splitting
  • Veneer bubbling and delamination
  • Piano soundboard cracking
  • Oil paint cracking on canvas
  • Leather drying and cracking
  • Electronic condensation damage

Silicon Valley to Austin: Why Tech Is Moving

Apple, Google, Tesla, Meta, Oracle, and dozens of startups have planted Austin offices. What started as satellite campuses has become a full migration. Engineers who once commuted past the Googleplex on Shoreline Boulevard or the Apple Park campus off Tantau Avenue now work from offices along Congress Avenue or near the Domain in North Austin.

Corporate Relocations

We coordinate with HR departments and corporate relocation managers. Review our office relocation playbook for phased transition planning. Whether your company is funding the move or providing a lump sum, we handle the logistics and documentation.

Home Office Specialists

Most Silicon Valley professionals have invested thousands in home office setups: dual monitors, standing desks, ergonomic chairs, networking equipment. We document, label, and cable-tag every component for exact reassembly in your Austin office.

Family Relocations

Families moving from Silicon Valley to Austin typically gain significant square footage. We handle the full inventory: kids' rooms, home gyms, wine collections, and the Peloton. Larger homes mean more to organize at delivery, and our room-by-room placement system keeps it orderly.

10,000 lbs Surplus Disposal Coordination

Many Silicon Valley tech executives relocating to Austin leave behind thousands of pounds of surplus furniture, e-waste, and office equipment. We coordinate the entire process at our Hayward terminal.

1

Inventory Sort

During Phase 1, your Ontrack team helps you sort items into three categories: "Ship to Austin," "Dispose/Donate," and "Store." The disposal pile is tagged and staged separately. Common surplus: outdated home office desks, gym equipment, oversized sectional sofas that will not fit Austin floor plans, and duplicate kitchen appliances.

2

Hayward Terminal Staging

Surplus items are transported to our Hayward terminal at 22950 Clawiter Rd, Hayward, CA 94545. We coordinate with local donation organizations and e-waste recyclers. You do not need to be present. We handle the logistics so you can focus on your Austin arrival.

3

Documentation

We provide weight documentation for all disposed items, which may be useful for tax purposes if items are donated. E-waste is processed through certified recyclers. This service is available as an add-on to any Silicon Valley to Austin move. Ask your coordinator for details and pricing.

Rare customer service, efficient and fast

Ontrack's customer service is unparalleled and quite honestly it's quite rare to find in the bay area. Hugo, Domingo and Daniel handled all of our requirements which included packing, loading and reloading at the terminal and some garbage hauling too, all on short notice. I don't know of any company that can do all of those things. Their prices are reasonable and they are efficient, so every minute is well-spent.

Direct drive, 6-person crew, one damaged item total

On the day of our move a 6 person crew showed up with Jonathan Andres as supervisor. They got everything loaded in one day despite having to use a shuttle to get from the house to the van on the street. We hired them for direct drive and they showed up on time the arrival day with 3 guys and Jonathan as supervisor again. Everything was unloaded, unpacked and moved into the house in 5 hours... With all the packing, shuttling, loading, unloading, unpacking and move in we had only one damaged item. A foot was broken off a storage bench but that was fixed in 10 minutes. Great job done by all.

CA to AZ interstate move, detail-oriented crew

Every moment with OnTrack for our CA to AZ move was professional and delightful, from the in-person estimate, to the communication leading up to the big day, to the professional, kind, and detail-oriented team led by Eduardo. They treated our furniture, art and goods as if it were their own, wrapping everything carefully and then assembling for us in our new home. I couldn't recommend them more.

Two storage units moved cross-state

I recently used their services to move two full storage units of furniture and personal belongings from San Francisco to Las Vegas, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. They even packed loose items, handled everything with great care, and securely stored everything overnight before delivering right on time the next day as promised. Both Temok and Carlos were professional, efficient, and treated every item with care during unloading and unpacking.
