The Ontrack advantage
Energy Capital Corridor: Phoenix to Houston
Houston is the fourth-largest city in the United States and the undisputed center of the American energy industry. Whether you are relocating for ExxonMobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, or Halliburton in the Energy Corridor, joining a team at the Texas Medical Center or MD Anderson, or reporting to NASA's Johnson Space Center in Clear Lake, we handle the logistics of the 1,180-mile I-10 corridor so you can focus on the transition.
Unlike brokers who sell your job to the lowest bidder, we own the trucks and employ the crews. The same team that packs your home in Chandler is the team that places furniture in your Sugar Land living room. One company. One truck. One point of accountability.
Direct Carrier, Not a Broker
Our trucks, our crews, your belongings. No hand-offs to unknown subcontractors. The team that loads your home in Phoenix is the team that unloads in Houston.
Flat-Rate Pricing
Your estimate is based on a detailed inventory, not hourly billing or weight. No fuel surcharges, no stair fees hidden in the fine print. The price on the estimate is the price you pay.
Climate-Controlled Storage
Our Peoria warehouse offers climate-controlled storage if your move-out and move-in dates do not align. Store your items in climate-controlled conditions while you wait for your Houston closing date.

Carrier vs. Broker: Why It Matters for Long-Distance Moves
Direct carrier service, not warehouse handoffs. Your shipment rides on Ontrack trucks with Ontrack crews.
| Factor | Ontrack (Carrier) | Moving Brokers |
|---|---|---|
| Carrier Continuity | Same Ontrack carrier from Phoenix to Houston | Unloaded and reloaded multiple times at warehouses |
| Who moves your items? | Direct-Hire Continuity: Ontrack handles hiring, training, and screening every individual on your move | Unknown subcontractors assigned at the last minute |
| Liability & Insurance | Direct coverage under our USDOT #2551548 | Claims passed between broker and subcontractor |
| Price Transparency | Flat-rate quote based on inventory, transparent pricing | Low-ball estimates, then price increases on move day |
| Delivery Window | Scheduled delivery with direct communication | Vague 21-day windows with no updates |
| Accountability | One company, one point of responsibility | Finger-pointing between broker and mover |
Ontrack is a licensed interstate carrier (USDOT #2551548, MC #889001). Your belongings stay on our truck from pickup to delivery.
Unique to this route
Humidity Transition Protocol: 10% to 80%+
Phoenix averages 10-15% relative humidity. Houston averages 75-90% humidity in summer months. That is the most extreme humidity differential of any Ontrack route, and it affects nearly every category of household goods. Wood expands. Glue joints swell. Leather absorbs moisture. Vinyl warps. Piano soundboards shift. This is not a hypothetical risk. It happens on every Phoenix-to-Houston move if items are not prepared properly.
Our crews apply a specific preparation protocol for this corridor. It is not generic "moving blanket" service. Every step accounts for what your furniture, instruments, and electronics will encounter when they arrive in Houston's subtropical climate.
Breathable Wrapping, Not Plastic
Plastic traps moisture against surfaces and creates condensation in humid environments. We use breathable furniture pads and kraft paper that allow airflow while protecting against scuffs and impacts during the 1,180-mile transit.
Instrument and Electronics Prep
Silica gel packs are placed inside instrument cases, speaker cabinets, and electronics boxes. Guitars, pianos, and vinyl record collections are particularly sensitive. We recommend keeping instruments in cases for 48 hours after arrival to allow gradual acclimation.
Gradual Unpacking Protocol
We recommend running your Houston AC for at least 24 hours before furniture placement. Wood tables, dressers, and antiques should acclimate to the indoor humidity level before being placed in final positions. Rushing this step risks warping and joint separation.
Items Most Affected by Humidity Change
- Grand and upright pianos - soundboard swelling, tuning instability
- Acoustic guitars and string instruments - neck bow, bridge lift
- Hardwood furniture - drawer swelling, joint expansion
- Antique wood pieces - veneer lifting, finish clouding
- Vinyl record collections - warping from heat and moisture
- Oil paintings and canvas art - canvas tightening or sagging
- Leather furniture - moisture absorption, mold risk
- Electronics and home theater systems - condensation risk
Phoenix vs. Houston: Climate Comparison
| Factor | Phoenix | Houston |
|---|---|---|
| Summer High Temp | 105-115F | 92-98F |
| Average Humidity | 10-15% | 75-90% |
| Rain Days/Year | ~35 days | ~105 days |
| Landscape | Sonoran Desert | Gulf Coast Prairie |
| Winter Low Temp | 40-50F | 40-52F |
| Flooding Risk | Monsoon (July-Sept) | Year-round (hurricane season June-Nov) |

Communicated every step of the way
James, Efron, and Geraldo were seriously game changers for moving day. They communicated throughout the entire day to let us know exactly what they were going to do, asked us if there was anything more they could do to help, they made sure that everyone on their team understood that all items go to the correct rooms, and after everything was done they walked us through everything one more time to make sure they got every single thing we wanted them to move.

Complex multi-stop move, handled with care
I had a small, but difficult move to do with two stops needed between storage and the new place... The crew that came were amazingly professional. They met with me, did a walkthrough to designate what was going to which location. Packed it all up properly and even showed me how they pack trickier items that no longer had their boxes. Had me do one more walkthrough to make sure I had everything... Both instances of unloading was smooth, gentle, and without issue. They even helped me reorganize my storage unit so everything fit better with the new furniture that was going into the unit.

Diligent crew, easy booking process
James and his crew did a great job for us. From the moment they got to our house, they worked diligently and quickly to get our things packed up and moved over to our new house. They took extra care to make sure none of our furniture was damaged in transit and were communicative and helpful placing our furniture exactly where we wanted it. The process to get a bid and reserve them was also very easy and their price was much more reasonable than other vendors we looked at.

Accurate estimate, careful with brand new floors
We had a great experience from start to finish. We were quoted an accurate estimate from the beginning. Carmina and Diana were courteous and accommodating in scheduling. James came to our home and took detailed account of what to expect... The movers packed everything carefully and followed instructions regarding what was staying and what was going to the storage unit. On Track was able to send a crew on short notice to move everything back to our home... All four men were such hard workers. We had some very large, heavy pieces of furniture. They took care of our belongings and also were careful with our brand new floors. None of our belongings were damaged in the move. We did not go over the estimated cost for the move.

Most professional crew, HOA aware
I have never seen a more professional crew... They handled our belongings with personal care. James, Efron, and Geraldo moved more than double the amount of items compared to the prior company within the same amount of time. From the start, they were totally respectful and instantly set a plan into motion to get our belongings moved as safely and as efficiently as possible... They even kept our belongs organized while assisting with packing and placed all the boxes in the correct rooms.

Five-man crew, extraordinary teamwork
From the initial assessment by James to the last piece of furniture put into place by the respectful, efficient team of Gabriel S., Francisco, Jahir, Ricky, and Ulises, this was the single most positive experience I have ever had with a moving company... Highlights include timely and efficient work, kind manner, excellent communicators, extraordinary teamwork.
