As of October 2026, Ontrack Moving® handles machinery rigging and relocation for CNC mills, machine-shop machines and heavy equipment as separate, planned projects: site survey, route plan, palletizing, strapping, lifting, transport and placement. Every machinery move is quoted after a site survey.

Tormach 1100MX CNC Mill: San Francisco to Emeryville

After their office and lab relocation, a Bay Area robotics company still had not found a rigger for their Tormach 1100MX. Tormach lists a typical system weight of 1,850 lb with the automatic tool changer (tormach.com/1100mx). Ontrack Moving® moved it in October 2026.

What we did

  • Surveyed the site, then measured and planned the route, including the building's freight elevator, and planned the right equipment and manpower for the move.
  • Reviewed and followed the manufacturer's preparation recommendations.
  • Built a lag-bolted pallet to carry the machine's weight, as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Cut a 4x4 to support the head, as instructed, and strapped the machine for transport.
  • Brought lifting equipment and operators to both buildings and laid plywood to protect the floors.
  • At the old site, removed the ceiling-suspended cable trays and removed and disposed of unwanted items.

How We Plan a Machinery Move

1

Site survey at both buildings: doors, elevators, stairs, docks and the route between them.

2

Review the manufacturer's moving and preparation recommendations.

3

Pallet built for the machine's weight, machine secured and strapped for transport.

4

Lifting equipment and operators at each building, with floor protection.

5

Transport and placement at the new site. Crane lifts, when needed, are coordinated with a licensed crane provider.

Where we work: Bay Area machinery moves from San Francisco, Oakland, Hayward, Fremont and San Jose, and Phoenix metro moves from Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa.

Who does what: your team or the manufacturer's service handles power-down, electrical, air and coolant disconnect and reconnection, leveling verification and calibration. Ontrack Moving® handles survey and planning, lifting, palletizing, securing, transport and placement.

Equipment We Have Moved

What We Need From You

  • Make and model
  • Weight from the nameplate or manual
  • Footprint
  • The manufacturer's moving or rigging instructions
  • Access at both sites: doors, elevators, stairs, docks
  • Who handles disconnect and reconnect

Heavy Machinery Moving: Common Questions

Ontrack Moving® moved a Tormach 1100MX CNC mill for a Bay Area robotics company from San Francisco to Emeryville in October 2026, as a planned project separate from their office and lab relocation. Tormach publishes a typical system weight of 1,850 lb for the 1100MX with the automatic tool changer. Ontrack Moving® surveyed the site, planned the route through the freight elevator, built a lag-bolted pallet for the machine, supported the head, strapped the machine and brought lifting equipment and operators to both sites.

Ontrack Moving® starts from the manufacturer's preparation recommendations and a site survey of both buildings. Your team or the manufacturer's service handles power-down, electrical, air and coolant disconnects, and later the reconnection, leveling verification and calibration. Ontrack Moving® handles the planning, lifting, palletizing, securing, transport and placement.

Yes. Ontrack Moving® moved a Tormach 1100MX CNC mill through a San Francisco freight elevator in October 2026, after the survey showed the route could take it. Ontrack Moving® measures the route, including the freight elevator, and plans the move against the building's posted ratings and the building's requirements. When the elevator or route will not work, the plan changes before move day, and crane lifts, when needed, are coordinated with a licensed crane provider.

Ontrack Moving® quotes every machinery move after an on-site survey, because weight, footprint, access and lifting equipment set the scope. Final charges will be based on actual labor time, materials used, access conditions, scope changes, waiting time, and any additional services requested or required to complete the move. Book the survey at (888) 914-8787.

Yes. Ontrack Moving® operates in the Phoenix metro from Peoria, Arizona, and in the Bay Area from Hayward, California. Machinery moves in both markets start the same way: an on-site survey and a plan before anything is lifted.
